Flood water starts receding in flooded villages of Sialkot, Daska

Sialkot: After playing havoc for two days now the flood water level started receding in the flood hit villages, however still two to three feet high flood water was standing in as many as 74 villages were badly affected by the flash flood in Naullahs Aik and Dek in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils.

The district administration of Sialkot spilled out the flood water into canals Upper Chenab near Sahowala-Sambrial and Marala Ravi Link M.R.Link near Pasrur and Baddo Malhi to save the Sambrial-Daska, Pasrur, Zafarwal and Qila Ahmedabad villages from further flood disasters there.

According to the District Officer Coordination Sialkot Malik Abid Hussain Awan, now the River Chenab and flooded Naullahs Aik and Dek were flowing normally in Sialkot district and the whole flood situation was under control there. He said that the flow of flood water today receded to only 2700 cusecs in Nullah Aik at Oora-Sialkot, 3600 cusecs in Nullah Dek at Chahoor-Pasrur and 89000 cusecs in River Chenab at Head Marala-Sialkot.

Deputy District Officer Agriculture Sambrial Ch. Nafees Hundal told the newsmen that the standing seasonal crops on as many as 3500 acres of land in Sambrial tehsil have been badly destroyed by the Saturday’s flash flood in Nullah Aik here. However, the losses of the properties and livestock were also being assessed there by the special teams.

On the occasion District Officer Coordination Sialkot Malik Abid Hussain Awan added that the speed of relief activities was jazzed up by the district administration, Civil Defence and Rescue 1122 workers in the flood hit areas of Pasrur tehsil here. The district administration of Sialkot claimed that the entire flood situation was totally under control here. DCO supervised these relief activities in the said flood hit areas.
