Islamabad: Mr. Zubair Ahmed Malik, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry FPCCI, Mr. S.M. Muneer, President of the India Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry IPCCI and former President FPCCI and Mr. Gulzar Firoz, Vice President of FPCCI have welcomed and appreciated the decision of the Economic Coordination Committee ECC of the Cabinet to put ban on the export of live animals with effect from October 1, 2013.

In a statement released on Wednesday they said that this ban had been longstanding demand of the Pakistan Tanners Association PTA and FPCCI had fully supported this demand in the best interest of the country.

They said that by putting this ban on the export of live animals, not only the tanneries will get raw material, but it will also ease the availability of meat, milk and other byproducts from livestock such as hides, bones, blood and tallow to many downstream industries.
