Free skin & diabetes camp held

LARKANA: A one-day free skin & diabetes camp was organized here on Sunday in Government Primary School-2 in which as many as 1052 patients were examined by noted skin specialists including Dr. Manzoor Memon, Dr. S Jawad Ali, Dr. Ayaz Memon, Dr. Rasheed Lakhani, Dr. Kailash Kumar, Dr. Asha Kumari Dr. Shahida and Dr. Habibullah Memon.

The camp was organized by Sindh Graduates Association (SGA) in collaboration with Welfare Association for Dermatological Patients, Karachi. All the doctors came from Karachi and also brought with them free medical samples for distribution among the poor patients.

The skin and other common diseases which they found among the citizens and poor villagers of surrounding areas were Scabies, Fungal Infection, Eczema, Acne, Impetigo, Boil, STDs, Urticaria, Contact Dermatitis, Alopecia, Folliculits, Vitiligo, L.P, Psoriasis, Alopecia, Cholasma, RTI, Otitis Media, Night Blindnessa, Anemia, Pediculosis, and Helminthiasis.

Abdul Latif Kertio general secretary SGA told PPI that this was the 8th camp. Dr. Manzoor Memon said scabies fungal diseases, pyoderma, viral diseases are common here and added that chronic diseases like psoriasis, LSC, CDLE have also been found.

He said that one case each of Xeroderma Pigmentosun and Ichthuosis was also detected here which are inherited cases. These cases must be saved from heat. He said that blood samples were tested of 280 people out of which 79 were suffering from Diabetes and many of them were unknown whether they are suffering from this disease. He said sugar level of one patient was 520 but he was unaware of it. He said that people must be provided proper awareness and treatment about the diseases and they should also start exercises.
