Governor writes to Ministry of Water, PowerMarch 25, 2013
QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has urged Ministry of Water and Power to exempt QESCO from power supply quota and increase in supply of electricity. If it was not done shortage of electricity would continue to increase causing negative impacts on agriculture in the province.
He said this in a letter he sent to Ministry of Water and Power.
He said Zamindar Action Committee Balochistan was already protesting over it. He said power supply quota has been reduced to 330 megawatts instead of increase. Demand for electricity is likely to increase to 1550 mw from 1440 mw this year. He said due to load shedding electricity shortfall would increase further and 20 to 22 hours load shedding would be observed.
He said 220 kv Dadu-Khuzdar and Dera Ghazi Khan-Loralai transmission lines should be completed at the earliest to resolve electricity problems. He aid due to these problems there is apprehension of further deterioration in law and order situation. Therefore special attention is needed on resolution of these problems.
