Govt depts alerted to brace for monsoon

Karachi: Sindh chief secretary Muhammad Aijaz Chaudhry has alerted the government departments throughout the province to complete their preparations for coming monsoon rains.

He asked all the commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure interaction with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), irrigation department, agriculture department, board of revenue and the department of local government and devise proper strategies to cope with monsoons.

He said all stakeholders should be put on alert. Proper arrangements be made in government hospitals, rural and basic health centers, including availability of snake and dog bite vaccines. He said drainage of accumulated rainwater in case of electricity load shedding should be continued with standby generators.

He also asked the additional IGP Traffic to ensure steps for keeping smooth flow of traffic in rainy season. He instructed to make all emergency control centers fully functional.
