Govt. determined to provide vocational training to poor: Ishaq Dar

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar has reiterated that projects under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) other than cash payment should be in consonance with Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad to discuss BISP‚ he said focus should be laid on providing vocational training to the poor. Chairman BISP Enver Baig informed the meeting that memorandums of understanding have been signed with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) for providing vocational and on-job training to recipients of the grant.

He said a multinational company has agreed to provide free training to one hundred BISP beneficiaries every month. An MoU will be signed with Daewoo company next week to provide training to drivers‚ mechanics and transporting staff. He said Gulf countries have a job market for two million workers and the government is focusing on this massive potential in the construction field.
