Govt to make best efforts to bring peace in the country: Info Minister

Islamabad:  Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said the government will try its best to bring peace to the country through dialogue and extend allout cooperation to its dialogue committee for this purpose.

Talking to media here Friday‚ he said the government will never create hurdle in the way of any positive proposal during the dialogue rather it will fully support each step of the dialogue process for its success.

The Minister said the dialogue does not mean to bring peace to tribal areas alone rather the government intends to bring peace to the whole country through dialogue.

To a question he said a number of states‚ including Britain and Ireland‚ have held dialogue with their dissident groups to settle the issues. Even the United States is holding dialogue with Talban for this purpose. He said the United States has declared the dialogue process as internal issue of Pakistan.

Pervaiz Rashid said main objective of the dialogue with Talban is to bring an end to unlawful activities and bring them in the ambit of law.

Answering a question‚ regarding local bodies elections‚ the Minister said it is purely a provincial issue and all political parties want to hold these elections so that their workers could play active role at local level to solve problems of the masses.

He said the Punjab government had initiated the process for holding local bodies elections but it was suspended due to some legal issues.
