Govt. working for public welfare in developing areas: Qureshi

Islamabad: Minister for Information Technology Kamran Qureshi has said that government is spending huge funds for the welfare of people in the developing areas.

Speaking at a meeting of the Senate’s Functional Committee on Problems of Developing Areas‚ the minister directed the Universal Services Fund authorities to give a detailed briefing about the usage of money in the developing areas. He said that briefing would help the lawmakers know about the deserving sectors in their constituencies. Senator Ahmad Hassan‚ who chaired the meeting‚ expressed concern over the pace of work on various development projects. Syed Asif Kamal‚ Chief Technical Officer‚ Universal Services Fund ‚ in his briefing‚ told the committee that since 2007‚ the USF had launched projects worth 29 billion across the country.
