KARACHI: Volunteers and officials of HANDS district Kashmore and Ghotki are busy to evacuate people from the villages situated in the river bed of Indus River to the relief camps of district administration.
HANDS medical team providing medical treatment at site and through mobile camps to the people. HANDS has established fully equipped disaster management centers in Sukkur, Thatta and Karachi from where emergency situations could be deal swiftly and rescue work initiated immediately.
The disaster risk management centers are fully equipped with provision of emergency shelters, safe drinking water, cooked food, transport for evacuation, non-food items, emergency toilets and medicines. At present, HANDS centers are actively involved in emergency activities to rescue and respond effected people whereas with coordinating all stakeholders, HANDS district managers are participating in all coordination activities with local administration authorities and NGOs.
A HAND has allotted Rs 2.5 billion from its own funds while Rs 200 million is required for this purpose. HANDS appeals to the national and the international organizations to come forward and join hands with HANDS for this noble cause. HANDS officials are in close contact with district administration and have formulated joint strategy to ensure security and safety to the effected people.
