Health Anti measles vaccination target achieved in SialkotJuly 4, 2013
SIALKOT: The Sialkot district health department has achieved the target of giving the anti-measles vaccination to children between the ages of six months to 10 years as many as four days before the end of the ongoing anti-measles campaign in Sialkot district.
Dr. Yadullah Provincial Government Monitor for Sialkot District stated this while talking to the newsmen at the DHO Office Sialkot here Thursday. District Health Officer DHO Sialkot Dr. Javaid Warraich was also present on this occasion.
He termed it a great success of this campaign, saying that the Sialkot health department had fixed a target of vaccinating as many as children till the end of this ten-day long campaign to be ended on July 07, 2013, in this regard.
Dr. Yadullah added that this anti-measles vaccination campaign had started in Sialkot district on June 28 and it will continue till July 07 saying that the first six days of this campaign were for the community while the last four days will be reserved for the schools, as all the government and primary schools in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska , Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils .
Schools have been got opened to inject the anti measles vaccination to minor children in their schools. Though , all the government and private schools were closed for the summer vacation , but they will be got opened from July 04 to July 07 for four days to ensure the anti measles vaccination to all the children, in this regard.
He said that the 70 local NGOs had also helped the health department a lot in social mobilization, as more than 500 special vaccinating teams were also gave the toffees to all those children being injected the anti-measles vaccination, besides, doing the door marking there in the Sialkot district, he added.
District Health Officer DHO Sialkot Dr. Javaid Warraich told that as many as 580 cases of measles were reported in Sialkot district’s in all the four tehsils during the period of last eight months confirming that as many as nine different children were died of measles in Sialkot district during this period.
