Heavy rain inundates Karachi streets

Karachi: Karachi cites faced immense problems on Monday morning when many busy roads streets were inundated after a heavy spell of rain.

Many sections of major roads including Sharae Faisal, M A Jinnah Road, University Road came under knee deep water after the shower. Crippling traffic jams were witnessed in the affected areas.

However, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation KMC Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan in a handout said that all resources were being utilized for drainage of rainwater from the city streets.

He also visited various areas in the city including New Karachi, Matric Board Office, Site, Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Gharibabad, Hassan Square, Old Sabzi Mandi, Shaheed-e-Millat Road, Nipa and University Road and supervised dewatering activities.

He said to cope with traffic jam problem due to rains heavy machinery was being used for drainage of rainwater Meanwhile Senior Director Municipal Services Dr. Shaukat Zaman along with staff visited Sharae Faisal and monitored drainage of rainwater in different areas which including FTC, Nursery, Natha Khan Goath, Airport and Malir.
