High alert in Sindh hospitals

Ratodero, Sindh: The Director General, Health Services, Sindh, Hyderabad, Dr. Ashfaque Hussain Memon, has directed to all the District Health Officers in Sindh to declare High Alertness in the Health facilities of their respective jurisdiction during Muharram days.

In a faxed letter dated: 05th November, 2013 sent today to all the DHOs/Medical superintendents he has further directed that that all DHOs should not leave their headquarters during 08th-10th Muharram Holidays and remain in their offices and monitor the situation personally. They have further been directed to send monitoring reports on daily basis to him and copy to Secretary Health Department, Government of Sindh, positively.

In another fax letter, the DG, HSS, has further directed to DHOs to establish well equipped medical camps outside the main gates of Hospitals and at necessary places/ points throughout the route of procession, to ensure that all ambulances are well equipped with essential medicines, doctors/paramedical staff and sufficient quantity of blood should also be made available to meet out any medical/surgical emergency.

He has further ordered that to ensure the attendance of doctors/paramedical staff at the emergency, anaesthesia medical and surgical departments and operation theatres of the Hospitals for prompt and effective provision of medical/surgical cover and has further added that in this regard a 24/7 Rota be prepared for all the medics and paramedics and sent to his office before 08th November. No leave should be allowed to anyone during these days.
