High Treason Case: Pervez Musharraf appears before special court in high treason caseFebruary 18, 2014
Islamabad: Former president general retired Pervez Musharraf appeared before the special court constituted to hear high treason case.
Pervez Musharraf appeared before the special court amidst high security. Three-member bench of the special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab resumed the hearing of the case.
During the hearing‚ the counsel of Pervez Musharraf Anwar Mansoor submitted that the court should first give judgement on the petition about its jurisdiction to hear the case before the indictment of Musharraf. On this‚ the court fixed Friday as the day to give ruling over its jurisdiction.
It is worth mentioning that the court earlier in its proceedings reserved the judgement on the petition regarding shifting the trial of Pervez Musharraf to a military court. Earlier former president general retired Pervez Musharraf appeared before special court in tight security.
More than 1,000 security officials were deployed from Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) Rawalpindi where Pervez Musharraf was admitted, to special court for his security. Former President left the AFIC on his own risk as doctors were not allowing him to leave the hospital. He signed the medical certificate himself for leaving the facility.
