IGP Islamabad directs for effective steps to control crimesMarch 19, 2013
ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan on Tuesday directed all police officials to take further effective steps to control crime in the city and adopt a professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.
He said police stations of the federal capital were provided more logistic as well as personnel support to combat crime and maintain law and order situation more effectively.
Chairing a meeting held here to review the crime situation in the city and efforts of Islamabad police in ensuring foolproof security arrangements, he said more personnel strength has been provided to police stations to overcome shortage of staff while vehicles have also been provided to ensure effective policing.
This step, he said, would be helpful to ease the work burden on police officials and improve their performance besides limiting the duty timings to eight hour. He ordered for strict patrolling and vigilance to ensure effective policing and special crackdown against the gambling dens, drug pushers, liquor sellers and guest houses involved in immoral activities.
He also ordered to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders and other criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature and are still at large. He directed police officials for strict monitoring of those ever faced imprisonment in car lifting or involvement in other criminal activities.
He asked all police officials to focus on resolving the public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens. He said corrupt elements bringing bad name to the department will not be spared and urged all police officials to serve humanity.
He said Islamabad Police is determined to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and no stone will be leave unturned to accomplish this responsibility. He stressed for speedy disposal of cases and their investigation purely on merit.
Policing is a service oriented job and every police official must serve the humanity with devotion, he added. He said FIRs must be registered at police stations on merit and without any delay and inconvenience to the citizens.
He also directed to accelerate the investigation process of various crime cases including murder, dacoities, kidnapping for ransom, car lifting and resolve the pending cases on priority. He asked all the investigation officers of police stations to ensure completion of probe of various cases and submit their challans in the courts at earliest as per judicial guideline.
He directed the police officials to improve `information and coordination system’ among various police wings as well as police stations so as to effectively combat criminal elements. He asked to take welfare steps for policemen of low cadre especially those performing duties at police pickets during night.
The meeting was attended by DIG HQ Sultan Azam Temuri, AIG Special Branch Waqar Chohan , SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq, SSP HQ Muhammad Yousaf Malik, SSP Traffic Dr Moeen Masood, all SPs, all Sub Divisional Police Officers, Incharge ACLC and CIA as well as Station House Officers.
