IGP presides over meeting on controlling crimesAugust 26, 2013
KARACHI: A meeting was held here on Monday under the Chairmanship of IGP Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch regarding coordination, and linkages of Private cameras installed by Banks and other financial institutions with Sindh Police Central command Center for improving, investigating, monitoring & controlling crimes and other related law & order matters.
The meeting was attended among others by Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, and Additional IGP Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo, DIGs, Administration/Traffic/Head Quarters, Director I.T Sindh Police and other officers of senior Police and Karachi administration. The focal group having senior representatives of all Banks and other Financial Institutions also attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed at length launching of a pilot project considering the Exit/entrance and surrounding including of parking areas of each bank and financial organizations situated on I.I Chundrigar Road. It was informed to the meeting that initially a survey was conducted and 35 points have been identified where the additional surveillance cameras are proposed to be installed with an expected cost of Rs50 million. The required amount is to be shared all the stake holders, it was further informed.
IGP Sindh nominated DIGP Administration Karachi, Bashir Memon as the focal person to work out the modalities for implementation of the pilot project including proposals and suggestion of the Karachi Administration and all stake holders.
The focal person would also submit report regarding integration and connection of surveillance cameras installed at Banks /Financial institutions with the Command & Control System of Sindh Police to broaden the scope of the pilot project and make it more useful.
Baloch directed to raise Quick Response Force QRF for making the pilot project a success and also asked Additional IGP Karachi to submit workable proposal in this regard at the earliest. He further emphasized to work out/study number of streets and roads connecting I.I Chundrigar Road with comparative analysis to deployment of man power Police Mobiles, Motorcycles for monitoring for quick action purposes.
The commissioner Karachi named the pilot project as the “Corporate Policing” and highlighted the significance and role of community in crime combat.
