IGP summons report on Karachi violence

Karachi: Inspector General of Police IGP Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Wednesday directed the AIG Karachi to submit detail progress report of bomb blasts occurred in the city, beside a report on implementation of a strategy to protect the life and property of citizens under EidulFitr contingency plan.

He instructed the officers to take advantage of forensic science techniques to investigate all the aspects of Lyari bomb blast and also make all possible steps to nab the criminals involved in heinous crime in the light of evidences.

IGP directed the police for prompt surveillance in troubled areas in order to ensure comprehensive targeted operations against criminal elements and arrest of absconders/proclaimoffender, while enhancing intelligence collection and sharing system.

He further directed for strict surveillance, checking, patrolling and snap checking at all public places, bus terminals, railway stations besides entry and exit points of the city. He said no slackness would be tolerated and strict departmental action would be taken against negligent officials.

Meanwhile, spokesman of Sindh Police said AIG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo on the directives of IGP Sindh constituted an investigation team which will be led by DIG south to probe into the Lyari bomb blast. The other members of investigation team are SSP South, SSP Investigation South II, SP Lyari, SDPO City South Zone and SHO Kalakot.
