Inaugural meeting of Rescue 1122 council heldMarch 14, 2013
Peshawar: The inaugural meeting of Rescue 1122 council was held at the Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar the other with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and chairman of the council Amir Haider Khan Hoti in chair.
The meeting discussed in detail matters related to the powers and foundations of the council, appointments to key point in rescue 1122, Extension of Rescue 1122 services to other districts of the province, establishment of Rescue 1122 Academy, constitution of district emergency board, budget and other financial matters of Rescue 1122 and a number of important decisions were taken to these effects.
Members Provincial Assembly, Shagufta Malik, Malik Qasim Khan and Prince Javed, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs, Secretary Finance, Secretary Health, Secretary Local Government, Secretary Transport, Secretary Relief and Rehabilitation, Director General Provincial Environmental Protection Agency and
other members of the council attended the meeting.
Director General Rescue 1122 Dr. Shams ul Haq gave a detailed presentation on the vision, mission, objectives, services budget, overall performance of Rescue 1122, Training being imparted ,to the Rescue staff, power and functions of rescue council and other relevant matters.
Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister said that in the prevailing situation of the region the importance and utility of Rescue service had increased manifolds and hence the provincial government has initially established Rescue 1122 in two major cities of the province including Peshawar and Mardan so that the loss of precious human lives could be minimized in calamities and other emergency situations adding that the rescue service would be extended to other parts of the province.
The meeting unanimously approved the constitution of Rescue Boards at district level with the concerned Deputy Commissioner as its chairman, while District Police Officer, District Health Officer, District Emergency officer and others will be members of the board.
The meeting decided to constitute development committee of the council headed by Provincial Additional Chief Secretary and Finance Committee headed by provincial Secretary Finance to look into the Developmental and financial matters of rescue 1122 before they are presented to the council for approval.
Constitution of two separate selection committees and criteria for appointment in BPS 16 and below and BPS17 and above in Rescue 1122 were also approved in the meeting. The Chief Minister directed the concerned quarters to take all necessary measures to ensure transparency and merit in appointments of the Rescue 1122 staff.
