India: Death toll due to flood in Kerala rises to 357

In the Indian state of Kerala, death toll from the worst flooding has reached to 357, besides about three billion dollars losses to infrastructure.

Kerala state’s information officer said today (Sunday) that thirty three people were killed in the floods over the last 24 hours.

Some three hundred fifty three thousand people have taken shelter in over three thousand relief camps as thousands of army, navy and air force troops have been deployed to help those still stranded.

The torrential monsoon rains since the end of May, have triggered landslides and flash floods that have swept away entire villages.
