Indonesian food festival from Dec 5December 3, 2013
KARACHI: Consul General of Indonesia in Karachi, Rossalis R. Adenan said that Consulate General of Indonesia in Karachi will organize Indonesian Food Festival 2013 at a local hotel from 5 to 8 December 2013.
The festival will be officially opened by Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan Burhan Muhammad. The purpose of the festival is to further introduce Indonesian culture to Pakistanis in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, through showcasing Indonesian food, dance and music as well as to further understanding of Indonesia among Pakistani people to further strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Pakistan.
During the festival, the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi will introduce two Indonesian Chef namely Lambok Tambunan and Faisal Muhammad. Pakistanis will enjoy number of Indonesian cuisine such as Sate Ayam (chicken Satay), Sate Kambing (Mutton Satay), Gado-Gado (Indonesian Salad of boiled mixed vegetables served with a peanut sauce), Bakso (meat ball soup), Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Rendang (dry braised beef) and Mie Goreng (fried noodles).
Cuisine will also include other Indonesian traditional snacks, such as Onde-onde (glutinous rice flour with green beans and sugar), Kelepon (tapioca flour mixed with boiled and drained Pandan leave with liquid brown sugar filling), and Martabak (famous Indonesian dish with egg, onions and meat filling during festival.
