IP World IP day will be celebrated on April 26

Islamabad: World IP Day 2013 will be celebrated in Pakistan on April 26 with the objective to promote the message of IP Rights protection. In order to mark the day a, one day seminar will be held by IPO Pakistan with cooperation of SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry at Islamabad.

This was decided in a meeting held at IPO, Headquarters, on Monday. The Secretary General South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Muhammad Iqbal Tabish, Deputy Director SME, IPO, Mr. Muhammad Ismail and Deputy Director Media, Hamid Javaid Awan attended the meeting.

The Director General IPO-Pakistan Mr. Tarik Feroze highlighted the role of business community in economic development of country as well as expansion of economic activities.

He said protection of IP rights is vital for opening new avenues of industrial development and IPO is making stringent efforts to improve service delivery system.

The matters pertaining to strengthening IPR enforcement mechanism, capacity building and provision of optimum facilities of IP Rights registration came under discussion during the meeting. The programme of World IP Day Seminar also discussed in the meeting.

Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Tabish elaborated the charter of SAARC and said that IP issues needs immediate attention and a lot of measures can be adopted after mutual coordination.

He also pointed out various initiatives to be taken to promote IP Rights in accordance with international scenario especially with reference to SAARC Region. Mr. Muhammad Ismail briefed about the various ongoing activities for public awareness and IPR protection.
