JI criticizes BD court decisionsSeptember 17, 2013
Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has criticized the Bangladesh court decision converting the life imprisonment of JI Bangladesh leader Abdul Qader Mulla into death sentence.
In a statement here on Tuesday, he said that the BD government was making a mockery of the constitution and constitutional institutions. He charged BD Prime Minister Hasina Wajid was using the BD courts to remove its opponents and Pro Pakistan politicians from her path in order to avert a clear defeat in the next elections.
He said that a former JI chief of Bangladesh Prof. Ghulam Azam, a 91 year old politician, had been given 90 years in jail by the court and the government had filed an appeal for its conversion into death sentence.
Munawar Hasan said it was most unfortunate that the Pakistan government, instead of raising a voice against the excesses of the BD government against pro Pakistan parties, had termed it as an internal affair of Bangladesh.
The JI Ameer also deplored the world community’s silence on these human rights violations in BD. He said that actually the biased attitude of the world community and its double standards in regard to Islam and the Muslims was the greatest hurdle in the world peace and supremacy of the constitution and the law. He however warned that peace could not be established in the world unless and until the international powers themselves abandoned the path of tyranny and injustice and adopted the policy of peace and tolerance.
He also appealed to the Pakistan government to bring forth the Mujib Bhutto agreement between the two states and also urge the United Nations to force Bangladesh to honour the pact and rescind the cruel and unjust sentences announced to the JI Bangladesh leaders.
The JI Ameer also condemned the Egypt government decision to confiscate all assets of the Ikhwanul Muslimoon leaders.
