JI demands action on statement about NATO containersSeptember 1, 2013
Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami JI has demanded of the government to take immediate notice of the statement by Director General DG Rangers in connection with disappearance of the NATO containers.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, JI ex-lawmakers including Muzaffar Ahmed Hashmi, Laeeq Khan, Nasrullah Khan Shajih, Hameedullah Khan Advocate and Yunus Barai expressed deep concern over the statement of DG Rangers given in the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) regarding NATO containers.
They said that the DG Rangers had informed the apex court that thousands of containers loaded with latest arms and ammunition were not sent to Afghanistan, but instead of returned from Balochistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KPK) and opened in Karachi.
The JI former legislators were of the view that the statement of RG rangers was quite enough to unveil the reality of the entire law and order situation in Karachi, adding that the said statement of DG Rangers was an eyeopener for the government.
“If the present government follows the reconciliation policy of the previous government, then it will prove disastrous not only for Karachi, but for the entire country”, they added.
The former JI lawmakers also demanded to make public the reports of fire incidents in Shipping Corporation Building.
