JI demands judicial inquiry into Burns Road incident

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami JI Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti has demanded of the government to conduct judicial inquiry into Burns Road incident in which the judge of Sindh High Court SHC, Justice Maqbool Baqar, got injured and nine other persons, including security personnel, were killed.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, JI Karachi Chief strongly condemned the incident and termed it a point to ponder for the government and the officials of the law enforcing agencies LEAs, as despite the tight security of Rangers, the incident took place in broad day light.

JI leader demanded early arrest of the culprits involved in the incident. “The terrorists are openly challenging the writ of the government, as even judges of high courts are not safe by the terrorist attacks, so how the common man could be saved by these elements”, he questioned.

Mehanti further said that the terrorist incidents put people into mental agony as the government had become helpless to control the present deteriorated law and order situation.

He feared: “If the present law and order situation continues, then the peace of the city will be destroyed completely. Mehanti expressed his deep condolence to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.
