LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had not learnt anything from his ten year exile and bitter past experiences, and his government was adopting day- to-day policies instead of seeking realistic solutions for the problems.

In an interview with a private TV channel, he said that so far the PMLN() government was a two men show, if not one man show. He said the PML(N) had done no home work for the solution of the problems facing the country and the nation.

After coming into power, the government heavily increased the tax burden on the masses in the form of GST contrary to its election promises. Instead of breaking the begging bowl, the party took up a mega bowl for begging alms from the IMF and felt proud on securing loans on most humiliating terms. Currency notes worth 6 billion rupees were being printed daily which was bound to cause inflation and price hike. It appeared the PML(N) leadership was least concerned about the peoples problems. Accordingly, it had lost much popularity during the last six months.

Hasan however said if Mian Nawaz Sharif now resolved not to repeat his past mistakes and tried to solve the issues through consultation, there was no reason why his government could not regain the people’s confidence.

The JI Ameer counselled the government to frame a pro-Pakistan foreign policy instead of the present pro-US policy. He said that Afghanistan should be allowed to frame its own policies freely. He was sure that India won’t be able to get roots in Afghanistan despite full US patronage because the Afghans knew how to deal with the Hindus. He further said that peace in the region could be ensured by checking India’s aggressive designs, and not through “Aman KI ASHA” SLOGANS.

He said, military operations did not provide any solution to the problems and remarked that sometimes, the states had to hold talks with hijackers as well. He said there had never been any Shia-Sunni clashes in the country because in that case, the roads and streets of the country could not have been safe. He said the anti state elements wanted sectarian clashes in the country however, their designs were being foiled by the mutual love and harmony of the o both communities.

Hasan paid tributes to the people of Balochistan for peaceful local bodies elections and said this reflected the peoples confidence in the local government system. He stressed upon all other provinces, including the Punjab, to go for local bodies polls as early as possible.
