JI terms increase in power tariff anti-people act

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami JI former lawmakers have termed the increase in power tariff an anti-people act and tantamount to a sheer injustice with the people of the city.

In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, JI former legislators Muzaffar Ahmed Hashmi, Laeeq Khan, Nasrullah Khan Shajih, Hameedullah Khan Advocate and Younus Barai have expressed their deep concern over the increase in power tariff despite long hours loadshedding in the city.

Condemning the power outages, JI former lawmakers said that the prolonged loadshedding for 10 to 12 hours had badly affected the social and economic life of the people.

They further said that the power crisis were deteriorating with every passing day, but the government had not yet taken any solid step to resolve it.

JI former lawmakers hinted that the government had planned to increase the petroleum prices by next month, adding that it was also an injustice step for the people of the city. They demanded of the authorities concerned to withdraw the increase in power tariff immediately and to review the decision regarding increase in petroleum prices.
