Karachi: JamaateIslami JI Karachi chapter acting ameer Barjees Ahmed has welcomed the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan ECP in connection with the deployment of army during bypolls.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Barjees Ahmed said that had the said decision was taken during general elections 2013, the mandate of the people would not have been snatched.

He regretted that despite the demand made by the 17 political and religious parties including JI for the deployment of army for the General Election, the ECP and caretaker government did not pay heed to this legal demand.

Barjees Ahmed reiterated the party demand to declare the recent results of the recent general elections as ‘null and void’ and conduct reelection under the supervision of army.
