KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami JI Karachi Chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti has said that the JI leadership would bring back the peace and past glory of the city of lights.

This he said while addressing a convention of the JI candidates on the seats of the provincial and national assemblies in general elections, organised at Idara-e-Noor Haq. Naib Ameer Sind Rashid Naseem, General Secretary JI Karachi Naseem Siddiqui, Naib Ameers Dr Wasay Shakir, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Nasrullah Shajih and Information Secretary Zahid Askari were also present on the occasion.

He said that the former government of PPP converted the city of lights into the slaughter house, adding the upcoming elections would decide the fortune of the people. Mehanti reiterated that the SC verdicts on the rectification of electoral rolls and delimitation could not be implemented on its true spirit.

He said that the discussion on seat adjustment was being continued and the JI leadership would give a good option to the nation. “JI will launch ‘Awami Rabita’ Public contact campaign, despite the unpleasant environment of the city before the commencement of the general elections”, Mehanti asserted.

He asked the JI leaders and workers to initiate door-to-door ‘Rabita Campaign’ and convince the people that they vote for the honest and loyal leadership of JI, if they want to eliminate target killing, extortion, street crime and lawlessness from the country. “JI will provide justice according to the teachings of Quran and Sunnah, when it will come into power”, Mehanti concluded.
