JI women wing organizes ‘Hijab walk’

Karachi: The women wing of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chapter on Wednesday organized a ‘Hijab Walk’ in the connection of World Hijab Day here.

The World Hijab Day is observed in whole world on 4th September every year.

The walk started on Main University Road from Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque and culminated at Hassan Square in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town. A large number of women from different walks of life participated in walk, led by Central Deputy Secretary General JI women wing Durdana Siddiqui. Kausar Masood, Ex-MNA Ayesha Munawar, Afshan Naveed, Raana Fazal, Atiya Nisar and other women leaders were present.

The participants of walk, carrying banners and placards, chanted slogans in favour of Hijab.

Talking to the media said propaganda against Hijab by the western countries was preplanned conspiracy against women of Muslim world. She demanded for stopping legislation against the Islamic traditions and cultural values. She urged the media to portray the Islamic traditions and values and do not promote vulgarism in the country. She demanded of the government to celebrate 4th September at governmental level.

She said the Hijab Day is celebrated every year on 4th September since 2004 after legislation made by France against Hijab. She said the law against Hijab is against the basic human rights and independence of Muslim women.
