Shikarpur, Sindh: A jirga settled a dispute of killing two girls over ‘Karo-kari’. Ill-fated girls Shahnawaz alias Shani Mahar and Reema Mahar were allegedly killed by their families in the jurisdiction of Jahan Khan police station under the allegation of having illicit relations with some men belonging to Jagirani community.
Sources said the Jirga was held under the supervision of PML-F MNA Ghous Bux Khan Mahar at Wazirabad Sunday evening.
The Jirga found Jagirani community guilty and asked them to pay Rs2.4million as compensation to heirs of the slain girls. They paid Rs0.1mn on the spot while the remaining amount would be paid in three instalments. Both the parties accepted the verdict of the jirga.
