Journalist among two kidnapped

NAUNDERO: Two persons, including a journalist, have allegedly been kidnapped near Naundero late Thursday night when they were returning to their village Dakhan from Larkana.

According to Anwar Ali Thahim, father of the journalist Asghar Thahim and uncle Azizullah Thahim said Asghar was returning from Larkana to his village in Toyota GLI car along with his driver Tariq Soomro when they were abducted. They further said that in the last call, Asghar told that he had reached Naundero and would be at home within half an hour but after that his cellular phone was constantly not responding due to which they suspected that both of them had been kidnapped.

On hearing this news, journalists of Naundero visited Naundero police station, met DSP Samo & SHO Sartaj Jagirani and informed them about the disappearance of journalist of AWAZ TV along with his driver while journalists of Madeji visited Madeji police station (Shikarpur district) and informed them about the incident but no effort was taken by both police stations to trace the missing persons.

Asghar’s father Anwar Ali Thahim told media that his son had not yet been recovered by police and no contact had been made by the bandits not Asghar has returned home due to which it is clear now that his son had been kidnapped. He urged the higher government and police to help recover his son without further loss of time.

A delegation of noted senior journalists of Larkana, Naundero and Madeji called on the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Larkana range, Khadim Rind, and apprised him of the situation. He told the media men that he had instructed the SHOs of Madeji and Naundero to recover the kidnapped journalist immediately.

The relatives of abducted journalist have started search for the abductee in area of one notorious criminal Piyaro Dahani in his village in the jurisdiction of Madeji police station. On seeing the police, the criminals also started firing and fled from their houses. Police also found the car abandoned nearby. On the other hand, Journalists also held a protest demonstration in Dakhan, Madeji and Naundero, demanding immediate and safe recovery of the private news channel reporter without further loss of time and provision of security to the journalists.
