Karachi: Secretary General, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Sindh Dr. Khalid Mahmood Soomro, Syed Siraj Ahmed Shah Amroti and other leaders have termed ‘political patronage of terrorists’ as the main issue of Karachi and alleged that PPP government and its allies had been patronizing the terrorism and bloodshed in the province in general and Karachi in particular during last five years.

In a joint statement issued here Thursday, the JUI leaders said, “It transpired from Supreme Court verdict that PPP and its partner political parties were equally responsible for bloodshed. The extortion, land mafia and target killing increased in Karachi under the umbrella of government.”

“How the people would expect good from PPP in its present tenure in government, which was the main cause of all such issues during previous tenure,” they questioned.

Dr. Soomro and other leaders described the so-called operations being carried out in Karachi as ‘eyewash’ and contended that the terrorists arrested during operation are kept hidden and later released to continue their activities.

So far a large number of doctors, lawyers, traders, students, political workers, religious scholars and seminary students have been killed and now the judges of high court are being targeted, JUI leaders said questioning the efficiency of security agencies.

Raising doubts on seriousness of Sindh government, JUI leaders said PPP government has decided to convene All Parties’ Conference but never implemented the recommendations of APC convened by it previously.
