Karachi: Karachi Electric Supply Company KESC has disconnected 33 heavily defaulting PMTs in Baldia Town for poor recovery status and massive illegal connections.

KESC disconnected 11 PMTs running in Sector 19A under MNA funds where consumers had been using electricity through illegal connections but refused to allow installation of regular meters.

KESC also disconnected 9 PMTs in Singo Goth, Faqir Mohammad Goth, Mohammad Ali Goth and Mustafa Goth for non-payment of an accumulated amount of Rs. 62 lakh where payment ratio was less than 7 per cent. Ramazan Goth PMT owing Rs. 33 lakh, Katto Goth PMT owing Rs 6 lakh, and 2 PMTs at ANP Chowk owing Rs. 1 crore 12 lakh, two PMTs at Sheeda Goth and 7 PMTs in Ittehad Town having massive kunda connections were also disconnected.

At some places, the residents later illegally reconnected the PMTs, but KESC then removed their link cable from high tension line to preempt illegal reconnection.
