KMC budget will be reality based: ZaidiMay 21, 2013
KARACHI: KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that KMC budget for upcoming fiscal year would be reality based in which funds for every sector would be allocated according to their requirements and that would be ensured that the objectives of revenue which could be achieved would be set in budget.
Social sector projects will be given special importance in budge which will improve everyday life of citizens; he expressed these views while talking to media representatives at Civic Centre on Tuesday.
Zaidi said that different departments following the directives have finalized their budgets for upcoming fiscal year and KMC budget will be presented right after provincial budget comes.
He said that various measures including resolving financial problems of KMC and establishing balance between income and expenses were being taken. KMC assets were registered first time so that their complete record could be maintained under this policy it was decided to auction above 10 thousand shops of KMC markets located in different areas with new rates for which Finance and Estate Departments were directed to prepare strategy whereas Department of Local Taxes, Municipal Utility Tax and other departments concerned to revenue were also directed to ensure the achievement of set goals and enhance speed in recovery works and also recommend new sources of revenue so that barriers in development works could be removed and employees could get salaries on time.
He said that KMC along with completion of old projects would start new projects as well which would be assessed on the basis of funds allocated in respect of Provincial and District ADP from Government of Sindh.
He said the projects which were important for city would be started especially social sector including education, health and municipal services projects would be given priority.
He said that performance of any department depends on getting reality in financial matters and create balance in income and expenses. KMC provides municipal facilities to citizens and its performance would improve when organization implements reality based policies.
