KMC orders officials to expedite flyovers workMay 27, 2013
Karachi: KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that the funds for flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan, released by Government of Sindh so far, have been given to contractors and efforts were being made for remaining amount so that more funds could also be provided in this fiscal year.
He said this during a visit of flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan where he was accompanied by Project Directors, Chief Engineers and other officers. He said in view of coming Ramadanul Mubarak the speed of construction works of Water Pump, Aisha Manzil, Dak-khana and Teen Hatti Flyovers should be enhanced and alternate routes should be paved more so that citizens will not have to face any inconvenience during Ramadan.
Administrator Karachi directed Engineering Department to complete Water Pump and Aisha Manzil flyovers till October. Construction of flyover on important intersection of Shahrah-e-Pakistan will make this road signal free and traffic flow will also improve and citizens will be provided with travelling facilities.
Administrator Karachi inquired about pace of work on the projects and issued directives. On this occasion in a briefing Administrator Karachi was informed that it was being considered that traffic flow surrounding the projects would not be affected and traffic jam complaints would be reduced.
Administrator Karachi Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi directed to utilize all resources for flyovers of Shahrah-e-Pakistan. He directed Finance Department to arrange required amount for construction of these flyovers on preferential basis and if required, amount should be taken from unnecessary projects and allocate that for these flyovers.
He said that a good number of citizens were facing difficulties due to construction of flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan which was being felt by KMC and we were doing our best to complete flyovers as soon as possible. He said Jinnah Terminal Flyover on Sharae Faisal has been completed and will be opened for public by 30th May.
