KMC review healthcare arrangements

Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation KMC Administrator Saqib Soomro has directed Health, Medical and Municipal Services Department to take necessary measures to deal with possibility of spread of infectious diseases in the monsoon season.

He was speaking in a meeting to review the steps taken by KMC to control the spread of rains related contagious diseases and to finalize the strategy in this connection.

Administrator Karachi directed officers to speed up the fumigation campaign in the city so that the citizens could be provided with shield against diseases like dengue fever and malaria.

He said though rainwater had been completely removed from the various areas of city after monsoon rains, but it was necessary to control the spread of contagious diseases through effective fumigation and by ensuring proper medical facilities in the KMC-run hospitals and dispensaries.

Administrator directed Medical Department to keep especial wards for dengue, malaria and Naegleria functional in KMC hospitals and also make arrangements for such facility in other hospitals. He said the doctors and paramedics should remain on duty round the clock in such facilities and the necessary medicines and equipments be kept in ready condition so that the patients could be provided with immediate medical aid.

Soomro said all concerned departments must work jointly to provide best and proper health care facilities to citizens.

He also appealed to the citizens to register their complaints on 1339 regarding fumigation in their area which would enable us to perform spray in such area on immediate basis.
