KP govt rejects the gas load shedding in the province

Peshawar: The Provincial Government of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa while rejecting the gas load shedding in the province announced to contact all the political forces of the province and jointly fight for the province’s rights.

Provincial finance minister Sirajul Haq said that federal government is going to ‘launch a new dram” of gas loadshedding in which it has been planned to stop gas supply to CNG stations and other industries which is not acceptable as the it is illegal as according to constitutional the province has the first right on its resources.

Siraj said that Wapda which is federal department is not accepting any decision regarding net hydel profit as the province has been not receiving the profit neither as per AGN Qazi formula not according to the decision of arbitration tribunal.

He said that even Khyber Pukhtunkhwa is not getting the schemes approved in PSDP and still no fund has been released to start the mega project in the province. Due to delay in construction of Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) Khyber Pukhtunkhwa is losing RS 5.64 billion every year as Punjab and Sindh has been using its water share and both the province have to pay Rs 112 billion for utilizing the water of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa.

He said that Khyber Pukhtunkhwa is producing 18 billion unit of electricity and consuming only 8 billion per year but still the province is facing worst kind of load shedding. “ We are producing electricity below Rs. 2 per unit but Wapda sell us the same electricity Rs 14.70 per unit which is injustice with the people of this province” he remarked.

He said that his government is starting new struggle to get the province’s rights and for this purpose all previous provincial finance ministers will be called and formulate future line of action as to how they could press the center to give PK its due rights.
