KUJ asks SHC to take suo motu notice of Jalbani’s murder

KARACHI: Karachi Union of Journalists Dawn at its meeting held in Dawn Newsroom on Wednesday strongly condemned the murder of Rafiq Jalbani, the son of Abbas Jalbani, Senior Sub-Editor of Dawn, and demanded of the government to order immediate arrest of the killers.

Rafiq had been receiving threatening phone calls and had given an SOS call on facebook on July 21, expressing resentment over the current state of affairs at Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Sindh.

The participants of the meeting demanded of the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court to take suo moto notice and investigate the high profile murder.

Rafiq became a target as he raised voice for resettlement of real affectees of floods at PMA Sindh’s housing project. The meeting also sought transfer of case to Karachi police as Jalbani would not be able to go to courts in Thatta.

The participants of the meeting prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the members of the bereaved family.
