LUMS joins United Nations Global Compact

Karachi: Lahore University of Management Sciences LUMS has applied for the membership of the United Nations Global Compact UNGC, says a release here Sunday.

LUMS is the largest business school of Pakistan and is acknowledged globally for setting highest standard of quality in higher education. It Vice Chancellor, Dr. Prof. Adil Najam gave the idea of LUMS embracing the Ten Principles of UNGC thus inspiring other leading business schools in Pakistan to not only pursue the principles of responsible management education but to also play their role in shaping the future of responsible business in Pakistan.

The Global Compact Network Pakistan wishes to thank International Alert for facilitating this process. Alert is committed to building Plural Business Partnerships for Peace in Pakistan and its objectives overlap with those of UNGC visàvis responsible business practices. Involving academic institutions such as LUMS is important for a continuous engagement with the principles of responsible and sustainable business in Pakistan.

LUMS joining the UNGC will prove to be a giant leap in Pakistan’s efforts to promote responsible business and will pave the way for more business schools to join hands in strengthening sustainable business leadership in Pakistan.
