Management and Repatriation Policy for Afghan Refugees and status of Proof of Registration PoR Cards

Peshawar: Proof of Registration PoR cards issued by the National Database and Registration Authority NADRA to registered Afghan Refugees in Pakistan has been expired on June 30, 2013. The Government of Pakistan is in the process of finalizing a national policy on management and repatriation of Afghan Refugees beyond June 30, 2013 and the same will be approved in the near future.

In addition to above, the States and Frontier Regions Division SAFRON Government of Pakistan Islamabad has conveyed to the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for issuance of necessary instructions to all relevant/subordinate offices/agencies to ensure that no harassment or adverse action may be taken against registered Afghan Refugees holding Proof of Registration PoR Cards expired after June 30, 2013 which were issued by NADRA till finalization of the national policy on Afghan Refugees.

In order to put a practical shape to the directions of the Federal Government, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Home and Tribal Affairs Department has issued necessary instructions to all concerned including Provincial Police Officer PPO and all the seven Divisional Commissioners in the province to comply with the aforementioned directions of SAFRON in letter and spirit.
