Math question paper of 8th class leaked: PTU demands probe into the matter

SIALKOT: Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) has expressed grave concern over the leakage of the math’s question papers of eight class examination being taken under the supervision of Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) and sudden cancellation of this paper by PEC across Punjab.

In a press release issued here Friday, the PTU has strongly criticized the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) in this regard and termed the PEC responsible for this height of negligence, saying that the today’s math question paper was the failure of the PEC.

President PTU Sialkot District Muhammad Asghar Kahiloun urged the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to purge the PEC from its black sheep, saying that the leakage of today’s eighth class question paper and later its sudden cancellation hurt and mentally disturbed the thousands of the eighth class students and their parents as well across Punjab, especially in Sialkot district as they had reached their examination centres when they were told that the paper was cancelled due to its leakage.

He said that this practice created panic and harassment among all the students and their parents, as they were sent back to their homes and schools hurriedly direct from the examination centres.

PTU has termed the practice of taken the fifth and eighth classes’ exams under the supervision of Punjab Examination Commission (PEC), as failed practice and wastage of money and precious time as well. PTU President said that there was a better examination system at District and Tehsil level for taking the annual examinations of fifth and eighth classes and there was no need to conduct these exams under the supervision of Punjab Examination Commission (PEC).

PTU urged the Punjab Chief Minister to take stern action against all the responsible officials under the PEDA Act.
