Maulana Samiul Haq laid to rest on premises of his seminary

Jamiat Ulema Islam-Sami (JUI-S) Maulana Samiul Haq’s funeral prayers were offered on Saturday at his hometown of Akora Khattak.

The funeral prayers of the influential religious scholar and former senator, who was stabbed to death at his residence in Rawalpindi a day earlier, were offered at the Khushal Khan College Ground.

Maulana Samiul Haq’s funeral prayers were led by his son Maulana Hamidul Haq.

Thousands of people attended the funeral of Maulana Samiul Haq. He was laid to rest on the premises of his madressah, Darul Uloom haqqania, Akora Khattak. Several religious leaders and politicians, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor, provincial chief minister, JI Chief Sirajul Haq, former KP governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, ANP’s Ghulam Bilour, PML-N’s Raja Zafarul Haq and others attended the funeral.

Meanwhile, condemning the tragic incident, Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that he was deeply sad over the death of Maulana Sami ul Haq.

He said the Punjab government is standing with the bereaved family in this hour of distress and this tragedy is being investigated from every aspect.

The Chief Minister said the culprits will be arrested soon and they cannot escape punishment.

He said religious and political services of Maulana Sami will be remembered for a long time.
