MEETING OF NA HOUSE & LIBRARY COMMITTEE ADJOURNS AS A PROTEST ON CONTINUOUS ABSENCE OF CHAIRMAN CDA

Islamabad: NA Standing Committee on House and Library which met here under the Chairmanship of Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi adjourned its meeting as a protest against rowdy attitude of Chairman, CDA towards the Committee and non implementation of decisions of the Committee made during its previous meetings.

The committee was convened to discuss the progress report regarding the construction of additional family suites and servant quarters at Parliament Lodges and implementations of decisions/recommendations of the Committee made during its previous meetings.

The Deputy Speaker National Assembly expressed his grave concern over the continuous absence of Chairman, CDA from the Committee meetings. He termed it a breach of privileges of the Members of the Committee and warned the Chairman, CDA that privilege motion will be moved against him on the floor of the House.

The Deputy Speaker said that Chairman, CDA had attended only two meetings of the Committee during last 16 months. He directed Chairman, CDA, Secretary Cabinet and Secretary Finance to ensure their presence in the next meeting of the Committee which will be held on 30th September.

He also expressed his displeasure over the non-implementation of decisions of the Committee and directed the CDA to submit comprehensive report on the implementation of decisions/recommendations of the Committee in next meeting.

The Deputy Speaker also expressed its reservations on the delay of construction of additional family suites. He said that there was acute shortage of accommodation for the Member of the Parliament and National Assembly Secretariat has to face embracement when the Members of the Parliament demanding for the provision of the accommodation.

He said that according to PC-1 the project has to complete by November, 2013, however, CDA has failed to complete the work till date. He directed to take strict action against the responsible of this negligence.

The Members of the Committee while expressing their displeasure over the absence of the Chairman, CDA from Committee’s meetings suggested to move privilege motion against the rowdy attitude of the Chairman, CDA on the floor of the House.

They also expressed their grave concerns over the incompetence of CDA in implementation of the decisions of the Committee and warned that they will resign from the membership of the Committee if the decisions of the committee will not be implemented.
