Mega project of Kh. Safdar Medical College to be completed in June 2014

SIALKOT: The district administration of Sialkot has given a dead line for the completion of project of establishing the new building for Govt. Kh. Safdar Medical College Sialkot. It said that this mega project would be completed till June 22, 2014. The Punjab government was spending Rs. 596 million on this project. The said medical college was being established on 23, 670 square feet area at Sialkot by demolishing the old offices of the Sialkot health department.

District Coordination Officer DCO Lt Rtd Iftikhar Ali Saahu disclosed this while talking to the newsmen at his office here today, after reviewing the pace of construction work of this project. He said that the construction of college’s boundary walls has been completed 70 percent while, the construction of the separate hostels for male and female medical students was briskly underway. It would be triple storey buildings.

Meanwhile, local MPA Ch. Muhammad Ikram told the newsmen that the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has allocated a special grant of Rs. 100 million in the provincial budget for fiscal year 201314 for ensuring the timely completion of the mega project of Govt. Kh. Safdar Medical College Sialkot. He said that the provincial health department had already given the teaching hospital status to Sialkot’s both of the DHQ hospitals namely Govt. Llama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital and Govt. Sardar Begum Memorial DHQ Hospital Sialkot.
