Minister calls upon the chairmen of all the Boards of IntermediateMarch 30, 2013
Peshawar: Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Caretaker Minister for Information, Education and Social Welfare, Mossarat Qadeem has called upon the chairmen of all the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa to workout a viable strategy for revamping and streamlining of affairs of their respective boards and making the exam system in line with the international standard so as to compete the developed world effectively.
This, she said, while chairing a meeting of the Chairmen of all the boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education at Peshawar.
Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Humayyun Khan and Special Secretary Mussarat Hussain also attended the meeting.
The Chairmen informed the minister of the issues and problems of the boards in detail. The Education Minister said that after assuming the charge of the office, she was constantly receiving complaints against the educational boards and its poor paper marking system. She asked them to initiate action against those elements that were earning bad name for the boards.
She added that eradication of cheating and mafia in exams was a challenging task for them and they should come out against it forcefully.
She continued, instead of traditional and manual way of exams, they should focus on online exam system and introduced MCQs system like AETA and NTS adding that it would definitely discourage the culture of cheating and mafia in exams.
The minister was of optimistic that introduction of online exam system would develop the habit of study and reading in students instead of cheating.
She was of the view that introduction of reforms were must in the educational boards for bright future of the new generation.
She added that this system would also compel the teacher to focus their attention on teaching instead of running behind the results in boards.
Mossarrat Qadeem was also of the view that harmonizing the existing curricula in line with the modern era but before the new curricula we should focus on the teachings training as welltrained teachers can produce best students.
