Minor girl killed, boy injured in hand grenade blast

Karachi: A minor girl was killed and her little brother injured in a hand grenade blast at a bungalow in PECH Society here on Friday. According to SHO Ferozabad, Safdar Mishwani, the incident occurred in the morning time when unidentified armed motorcyclists hurled a hand grenade at the bungalow located along Khalid Bin Waleed Road in PECHS Block 3. The blast left two children injured, which were identified as Uzma, 6, and Aman, 4, daughter and son of Abdullah respectively. Later, the girl succumbed to injuries on her way to hospital.

The body and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities and treatment.

Mishwani said that the reason behind the attack was not known as the owner of the bungalow was living abroad and only the housekeeper, Abdullah, and his children were present at the time of the attack. He said that the blast damaged windowpanes of nearby houses and spread panic in the area.

Moreover, no FIR could be registered till filling this report, however, the SHO said that investigation was underway to identify culprits behind the attack.
