MQM holds big demo against Imran, torch his effigy

KARACHI: A large number of Muttahida Qaumi Movement MQM activists on Monday held a big protest demonstration outside Karachi Press Club against Imran Khan for blaming murder of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf PTI leader Zehra Shahid Hussain on MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

The protesters, carrying banners and placards, were chanting slogans against Imran Khan and Jamaat-e-Islami.

Speaking on the occasion, MQM leader Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that whole Karachi had come out of their homes to record their protest against Imran for levelling baseless allegations against MQM chief Altaf Hussain about Zehra’s murder. He said that she might have been killed over party’s internal disputes.

Siddiqui said that they would fulfil all legal, democratic and constitutional process to bring this issue to its logical end. Siddiqui said that Imran had hurt Altaf’s lovers. MQM leader criticized Imran and accused him for holding agreement in upper and lower Dir with religious parties to stop women from casting their votes.

He said that Karachi is the city of peaceful people and they were using their political right of protest because Imran had hurt the sentiments of millions of Altaf’s followers. Siddiqui thanked civil society for supporting them.

MQM Coordination Committee member Waseem Aftab said in the protest demonstration that Imran Khan had spent Rs25 billion to promote his personality in media during recent general elections. He said that Imran had deepened line of division among Pakistanis but people had rejected him.

Waseem said that Imran belonged to two percent privileged people and he destroyed cricket sprit in Pakistan. He said that Imran kept the base of racism in cricket and destroyed the future of many talented cricketers belonged to Karachi.

Aftab termed PTI as a party of the rich people. He alleged that Zehra Shahid was killed by PTI men and Jamaat-e-Islami squad.

Former health minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed demanded of government to bring Imran Khan under investigation in Zehra murder case. He said that Imran had hurt people’s sentiments by hurling allegations on Altaf Hussain.

He said that countrywide protest demonstrations and rallies were being held today against Imran Khan for levelling allegations against Altaf Hussain. He highlighted Sita White case and demanded of Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice against Imran Khan under Article 62 and 63.

MQM leader Nabeel Gabol said that Jewish lobby and miscreants wanted to destroy Karachi’s peace by levelling allegations on MQM chief Altaf Hussain. He said that PTI had adopted the same platform which was used by JI in Karachi to snatch MQM mandate.

Gabol said that Karachi is the city of MQM which would not let anybody to destroy its peace. He said that country would be prosperous if Karachi remains peaceful.

He said that Karachi would become no-go area for those who would use slang language against Altaf Hussain. He said that Karachi is the heart of Pakistan and Altaf Hussain rules that heart.

MQM coordination committee member Gulfraz Khan Khatak also addressed demonstrators. The annoyed MQM party men also burnt effigy of Imran Khan.
