Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the blood of the Muslims had gone cheap and was being spilled all over the world from Kashmir to Myanmar and from Syria to Palestine.

Addressing an Iftar party organized by the Shabab e Milli in Jauhar Town on Monday, he said, the Muslim world was rich in terms of man power, natural resources and geographical location but it was facing humiliation and ignominy because of disunity in its ranks and also for having drifted s away from the Quran and the Sunnah.

Liaqat Baloch said that Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had announced the Quran and the Sunnah as the basic law for this country but after the demise of the Quaid e Azam and Quaid e Millat Liaqat Ali Khan, the country fell into the hands of military dictators, feudal lords and capitalists who distanced it from its goal.

He said that the JI could not gain much success in the recent elections but it had not lost hope. Instead it would learn from its past mistakes and come up again with better planning.

He said that the JI would put up honest and sincere people as candidates for the local government elections, and hoped that the masses would fully support them.

He said the attitude of the federal and the provincial governments ignoring the Supreme Court orders regarding local bodies elections was undemocratic, and pointed out that according to the Election Commission, the government at the centre and in the provinces had not passed any law on local governments as yet.
