Nasir becomes top ranked Pakistani player

Karachi: Squash player Nasir Iqbal becomes top ranked Pakistani squash player in international arena after jumping two places up to secure 56th spot according to the rankings published by Professional Squash Association on Wednesday for the month of May.

In April seasoned Aamir Atlas Khan was the top ranked player for Pakistani in the international circuit, also at No 56 but in May, Aamir has fallen five places and he now sits at 61st spot.

Meanwhile, Nasir who previously ranked 58th has bettered his ranking by two places and in the process has become top ranked Pakistani player.

Nasir, who turned 18 last month, has achieved in spite of falling in the very first round of $15,000 Irish Open at Dublin, Ireland last month. He was beaten by Lucas Serme, a qualifier from France.

Meanwhile, Lahore based Yasir Ali Butt has slumped two places to 72nd spot.

Other Pakistani players in top 100 are Farhan Zaman and Danish Atlas, who jointly sits at 87th spot. Farhan was ranked 87th last month but Danish moved five places up to secure his place beside his compatriot.
