Nation celebrates 70th Independence Anniversary with renewed pledge to make Pakistan a truly Islamic welfare state

The nation celebrated 70th independence anniversary with national zeal and fervor across the country on Monday with the renewed pledge to make the country a truly Islamic welfare state as envisioned by founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The day dawned with thirty-one gun salute in the federal and twenty-one gun salute at the provincial capitals.

Special prayers were offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country, unity of the Muslim Ummah and for the success of the long drawn struggle of the Kashmiris after Fajr prayers.

All the major public and private buildings, roads and avenues weredecorated with illuminations, national flags, portraits of the national leaders, banners and buntings to give a festive look.

Radio Pakistan broadcast special transmission on the Independence Day.

In Karachi, Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah attended an impressive flag hoisting ceremony at the Mazar-e-Quaid-e-Azam.

In Lahore, a simple but graceful Change of Guards ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Iqbal, in which Pak Army jawans took over the guard’s duty from Punjab Rangers.

Meanwhile, a function in connection with the Independence Anniversary was held in Peshawar where Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak hoisted the national flag.

The main function of Independence Day in Balochistan was held in Quetta where Chief Minister Sardar Sanaullah Khan Zehri hoisted national flag.

In Azad Kashmir, President Sardar Masood Khan hoisted national flag at President House in Muzaffarabad.

Addressing on the occasion, he said Pakistan always stood by the Kashmiri people and raised the issue on all fora.

AJK President paid rich tributes to the people of occupied Kashmir and strongly condemned the Indian state terrorism against innocent Kashmiris.

Independence Anniversary was also celebrated with national zeal and fervor abroad as well.

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan Embassy in Beijing today.

High Commissions of Pakistan in India and Sri Lanka and the Pakistani community in these countries celebrated the day with national spirit and enthusiasm.

An impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Pakistan Embassy in Paris while Embassy of Pakistan in Washington commenced 70th Independence Anniversary celebrations by organizing “Open House”.

Pakistan Ambassador to the United States Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry inaugurated the festivities which will continue during coming months.

Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day was also celebrated at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka.

A colorful ceremony was also held at Pakistan Hajj Medical Mission in Makkah on Monday to celebrate 70th independence anniversary.

The ceremony was attended by Pakistani pilgrims, staff of the medical mission as well as Pakistanis residing in Makkah.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Hajj Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah said we are celebrating the Day on the holy land this year with the mission to extend all possible facilities to the Hujjaj.
