Nation greatly values armed forces’ sacrifices: PM

Rawalpindi: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said the entire nation greatly values the sacrifices rendered by the armed forces in saving the motherland from terrorists.

He was speaking at a briefing given to him at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi Tuesday on security situation and matters relating to the defence.

The Prime Minister said the armed forces have demonstrated their capabilities and rendered great humanitarian services during war and peace time.

The Prime Minister lauded that our forces are fully equipped with great spirit of martyrdom and patriotism and do not hesitate to render any sacrifice to protect the citizens from not only foreign aggression‚ but also the terrorists.

The Prime Minister said that being a peaceful and democratic country‚ Pakistan wants peace across the globe.

He reposed full confidence in the capabilities of the armed forces. He said that strong defence is imperative for stability of democracy.

The Prime Minister hoped that the days are not far off when Pakistan will be known as a peaceful and developed country on the world’s map.

Earlier‚ the Prime Minister was briefed on national security and internal situation of the country at General Headquarters.

Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Principal Staff Officers also attended the briefing. Earlier‚ Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani received the Prime Minister on his arrival at the GHQ. The Prime Minister along with the Army Chief inspected guard of honour. Later‚ he laid a floral wreath at the monument of martyrs and offered fateha. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar are also accompanying the Prime Minister.
